Grind Setting Guide
Version one 🙂
We are excited to bring you the most useful grind setting guide we have ever had access to. No more vague “medium-coarse” guidelines, now we use actual numbers🫰🏼 You can then use them to find the correct grind setting on your particular grinder. Grind size is measured in microns (µm).
There are of course a few T&C’s:
- We have only measure grind size against settings suitable for filter brewing. Espresso is its own beast and this data wouldn’t be effective.
- The grind particle size shown is an average across a given sample. Some grinders may produce more fines causing slower draw downs. This is a great guide but make adjustments as needed.
- We tested new grinders, as they came from the factory. Your burrs may have seen some wear. Adjust as needed by paying attention to total brew times when following a given recipe. Coarsen if your brew times are long and tighten the grind if too fast.
- We have provided a range of grind settings. You may find a recipe calls for a particle size between two quoted settings – please apply logic and pick a starting point that makes the most sense.
- We have added a bunch of grinders and we will endeavour to continue expanding on the list asap!
