Kai Janson has become one of the more famous Panamanian coffee producers over the last 5 years. Janson Estate is responsible for multiple Brewers cup and Barista Championship winning coffees at the highest level, including Boram Um in 2023 at the World Barista Championship, and our own competition team successfully using coffees from Janson Estate to win back-to-back-to-back regional titles in KZN and multiple podium finishes at Nationals using coffees from Janson Estate. The farm was founded in 1926 and has been producing coffees for over a century now, but Janson was founded only later, by the grandchildren of Carl Axel Janson. The team at Janson have grown the community their farm provides for over the years, establishing day cares for the children while their parents work the farm and investing into infrastructure in the communities surrounding their estate. They also have a nursery which is dedicated to the reforestation of the surrounding land and diversifying the genetics of the species found natively. They produce all of the power used on the farm using 400 large solar panels and reuse excess material as fertilizer for future production.
