Coffee Origins
This classic washed coffee is a celebration of its roots, singing in your cup as if you’re actually visiting the Vunga washing station. The smallholder farmers in this area have twice produced coffees that placed in the Cup of Excellence competition, and this Red Bourbon makes it clear why the genetics of this coffee is so aclaimed. A Classic Rwandan profile, with stonefruit sweetness dancing around your palete on the first sip, reminding us of apricot not only in flavour, but texture too. This gives way to a delicate floral honey note that lingers along with a peach blossom florality, making for a clean, sweet and delightfully complex coffee, celebrating the ladies leading the Vunga washing station in the best way possible. This coffee is the latest in a line-up of absolute bangers we have released from Rwanda this year.
Muraho Trading Company, Vunga Washing Station Muraho Trading Company (MTCo.) is a specialty coffee producer and exporter in Rwanda founded by brothers Karthick and Gaudam Anbalagan, who grew up in Rwanda and set out to showcase the country’s specialty coffee potential to international markets. Their focus extends beyond coffee quality, being committed to the furthering of education amongst the growers in the region and pouring resources back into the community that surrounds the station and the smallholder farms they buy from. The Vunga washing station is tucked into the hills of the Nyabihu District, amongst plentiful plantain and banana trees and is fed by nearby natural water sources. Vunga is a woman-led cooperative and has been producing coffee since 2009. Visitors to this hidden gem are greeted in song and dance by the workers of the washing station and the quality being produced has been amazing and is steadily improving year on year. The ladies leading Vunga have twice placed in the Rwandan Cup of Excellence competition, rewarding the quality of the coffee that is being produced in this area.

FAQs
Single origins: Our roast style and green coffee preference suits both filter and espresso very well.
Each coffee with present different characteristics you may prefer through a specific brew method.
For example Dario loves washed Kenyan’s through the AeroPress, but they taste great as espresso and through the V60.
Blends: Designed with espresso in mind but Dreamer tastes great in the plunger. It’s all down to personal preference!
